Nonprofit Cloud vs Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
Background
Salesforce created Salesforce.org, its social impact center dedicated to leveraging Salesforce products to help nonprofits overcome industry challenges. The center collaborated with Salesforce nonprofit customers and the nonprofit community in developing and launching the open-source CRM tool, Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), built on top of Salesforce. Over time, however, Salesforce.org developed its offering beyond the NPSP, creating the comprehensive suite of products and services now known as Nonprofit Cloud.
Nonprofit Cloud vs Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
NPSP is a free, open-source managed package that builds on the power of Salesforce with several tools to help nonprofits manage their daily activities. It can be installed in one’s Salesforce, for instance, from AppExchange, and here are its key features:
- Household Account record type to track both donors' and stakeholders' entire households.
- Relationships and Affiliation objects to show the connection between stakeholders and organizations.
- Six Opportunity record types to manage different kinds of charitable revenue.
- Fundraising tools to track recurring donations and simplify the data entry process for gifts.
- Other objects to managing activities include the allocation of gifts.
- Over 60 prebuilt reports and dashboards for data analysis.
- Data Import tool that loads the most used information.
Nonprofit Cloud
Nonprofit Cloud is a comprehensive set of nonprofit technology solutions to connect your nonprofit with those who care about your cause. It is an integrated solution constructed directly into Salesforce. This indicates that you have everything you require in one solution. In March 2023, Salesforce declared unique features and outcomes for Nonprofit Cloud, which are purpose-built to sustain the sector’s evolving requirements.
The reimagined Nonprofit Cloud is getting innovations across areas like:
- Fundraising
- Program Management
- Marketing & Engagement
- Grantmaking
- Nonprofit Operations
How Are the Two Different?
Both are Salesforce products designed to help nonprofits manage their operations. NPSP is a cluster of composed packages developed and maintained by Salesforce.org. It’s a tool built on top of Salesforce, and while it’s free, its features are limited. Nonprofits must use different products with their corresponding costs for other needs.
On the other hand, Nonprofit Cloud is an integrated solution built directly into Salesforce’s core, which means everything an organization needs is ready for configuration upon setup. It delivers a curated set of core abilities to support your organization in getting started with Salesforce faster, at a lower cost, and with a more significant impact, getting you close to achieving your mission.
